Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve - Painting mini-break May 2008!

We had an exciting new Painting Mini Break staying at Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve on the weekend of May 10th and 11th. This was a chance for a small number of folks to spend a couple of days at the wild and wonderfully tranquil Lincolnshire nature reserve, located just down the coast from Skegness. One or two folk got muddy shoes but no-one fell in the water - success!

The reserve is comprise of sandy and muddy seashores, sand dunes, salt marshes, fresh water habitats, a small woodland area, the estuary of the River Steeping with its boat morrings and of course, the Wash Study Centre - our accommodation for the weekend. The reserve of over 1000 acres is managed by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust. It is recgnised as an area of outstanding wildlife and geomorphological (wow!) importance.

Successful Winter Exhibition 2007

The opening weekend for the 2007 winter exhibition was Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November, and despite some bad weather, was well attended.

Open from 10am to 5pm every day through December - here at High Meadow - there was a good chance for everyone to come and see the varied styles Ash presents, hopefully to get some inspiration for classes to come along to through the year, and maybe even to find the odd Christmas present for family and friends!

There were around 250 original paintings in watercolour, pastel, acrylic and ink; in sizes that vary from a few inches in each direction to works that are over 3 feet square. Subjects included traditional landscapes, figure paintings, flowers, abstract/contempory style paintings.

A wide range of limited edition prints were on sale, selected from original paintings that were on display. To view a selection from the range of prints, please click here

Thanks to all those who came along and supported the exhibition - it was great to see so many of you over the month.
